Radiology

Radiology, which is the procuring and evaluation of x-rays, or radiographs,  is a very important diagnostic tool that reveals information about the body that may not be discernible from the outside.  A radiograph is a type of photograph that can look inside the body and can be used to evaluate almost any organ in the body, including the heart, lungs, and abdominal organs, as well as the bones.  Downtown Animal Hospital uses a digital x-ray machine to diagnose and evaluate issues that require an inside look.  the x-rays can be e-mailed and sent electronically to a specialist when needed.

DOWNTOWN ANIMAL HOSPITAL COMBINES STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGY WITH COMPASSION AND EXPERTISE

Digital X-rays provide clearer images over film X-rays. Moreover, digital images can be enlarged and manipulated, providing detailed information. Our veterinary team can view the images in ways that are not possible with film X-ray. Greater information leads to faster diagnosis and more immediate treatment—speeding relief to your pet.

Digital X-rays are also quicker, which mean less time on the table and less stress for your pet. Digital X-ray images of your pet’s affected area are captured in under a minute. And since the images are digital, they can be emailed and sent electronically, if second opinions or referrals are in order.

Some patients may need to be sedated or anesthetized depending on the patient and the area being radiographed. In this case, we normally schedule a separate appointment in order to ensure that the pet is safe and comfortable as possible.
